HERITAGE

Mendelow Studio is grounded in a legacy of precision, resilience, and artistry. Our story begins in Switzerland, where values of craftsmanship and excellence shaped our family’s approach to work and life.

The Mendelow name carries a rich legacy of courage and skill. Our great-grandfather, Dr. Abraham Schueler, heroically saved his family from Nazi persecution, bringing them from France to Switzerland during World War II. His legacy of resilience inspires the spirit that runs through our family today.

Robert Mendelow, our great grandfather, immigrated to America at the turn of the 20th century. An expert watchmaker and jeweler, he built the Mendelow name in Buffalo, setting the foundation for future generations.

Dr. Joseph Mendelow, his son, deepened that legacy. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he moved to Switzerland, studying at the University of Basel where he met Marianne Schueler. Marianne, raised in wartime Switzerland, was shaped by her experience and became a chemist with a love for nature, art, and detail.

Together, Joseph and Marianne’s partnership carried the Mendelow name back to Buffalo. Joseph became a respected pediatrician, and Marianne brought her scientific rigor to her work as a chemist. Their creativity extended beyond their careers into art, calligraphy, painting, and cooking. Their home was a hub of creativity, experimentation, and innovation, creating what are today our heirlooms and heritage.

At Mendelow Studio, we carry forward this tradition of craftsmanship, blending heritage with innovation. We aim to create designs that honor our ancestors’ legacy of quality and artistry.
